Millions of new businesses have an online component. It’s highly unlikely that in this day and age, you would launch a business without some thought to how you will implement your online presence. Company Web sites can  serve many different purposes. Your site may be purely informational. In other cases, the site is designed to actually sell a product. Sometimes the site is used as a marketing tool – to drive people back to your company. Some companies even create sites that aren’t really the official company site, but are designed to drive people towards your real web site. The goal of this article is to address that last option – creating a web site or web content that does not exactly sell a product but helps people move back to your web site.

We won’t discuss search engine optimization heavily, but it is common knowledge that if you want traffic you need quality content. The easiest way to do this is to write articles. Articles serve two purposes. The first is that search engines love articles. It’s generally an indicator that a Web site has real purpose. The second is that users like articles. It adds meat to your site and gives a user something else to do while on your pages. The ideal article should be about a page long. You can have very long articles, but ask yourself if someone would want to read it.

Now we talked about the idea of creating articles on a site to drive people back to yours. For example – let’s say that you sell bicycle parts. You want people to come to your site – so you create a few relevant sites to drive people in. Perhaps the first site would be a bike enthusiast site. Your second site could be a site about great bike riding trails in your area. Then you would draft articles for content. Every now and then you could slip in a thing or two about your store – or even run advertisements for your store. Once your site picks up in popularity – you have a very targeted captive audience viewing your ads. But what if you could make money off of the extra sites? If you are running your own ads to drive customers in, perhaps you could run other ads for the people who might be interested in other products. Here is where the Google Adsense can help you out! We have dabbled with all of the major ad companies – and it’s simply the best one. It creates relevant ads in fully customizable color schemes that match your site. It is free to use, so you can’t lose. By setting up Google Adsense, you have now managed to monetize your site that you are using to create more business!

As a new business owner, you need every penny that you can get. Google Adsense can assist. However, we want to be clear, it isn’t appropriate for all situations. For example, you don’t want your customers viewing competing ads on the pages where you are selling a product. That can defeat the purpose. Going back to the bicycle parts example – but what if you are selling a bicycle seat for 50 bucks, and an add pops up on your add to shopping cart page that says – get the same seat for 30 bucks at another web site. You could lose your customers!! However, running these ads on supporting web sites may not yield the same results. Because the niche content of those sites won’t be about competing content but complementary content, you shouldn’t have too many competing ads. If you are new to the whole monetizing your site world, don’t feel bad. It’s not that complicated and Google Adsense is a great tool to have in your arsenal.
